The Germ 04: A Night of Epic Proportions

So, unless you’ve been hanging out under a rock, you knew that The Germ 04 was last night. Windsong Productions had a packed studio of filmmakers and film watchers. In short, last night was a Germ of epic proportions.

The double-doors of Windsong opened for Germ goers at 7 p.m., inside was a wide array of candy and freshly popped popcorn. If you think the deliciousness stopped there, you’d be wrong. Serving Germ patrons was the always popular La Elegante taco truck and the equally as popular no-host bar provided by Wedgewood Banquet Center. After which, the festivities were underway.

Windsong’s creative director Byron Watkins took the stage as emcee at 8 p.m. and explained the inspiration behind The Germ 04, “Tables and Chairs” by Andrew Bird. Then, the screening of the films were in full force with 13 entries. Here’s the line-up:

A Prelude by Scott Coulter

Carpool by Dave Werner

Lush by Lisa Gentz

Noise of the World by Marcel Nunis

Check Your Emails by Jo Mercado, Chelsea Gue (me!) and Johnny Soto

Wall/Chair by Chris Samaro

It Comforts Me by Lori Yerxa

That 1 Guy by Timmy T. (Yes, thee Timmy T.!)

Armchairs by Byron Watkins

Untitled by Andrea Guyton

A World Around You by Evan Wade

Help by The McAleece’s

Tables and Chairs by Dave Wilkins

This was my sophomore run at The Germ. This film project is such a labor of love. Out of everything I’ve taken away from The Germ so far, that would be the most poignant. Even the second time around, seeing one nugget of inspiration interpreted in so many different ways renews my vigor for creativity.
