The rumors are true. After five and a half years in the same spot, Windsong is moving to a brand-new studio. That means we’re saying goodbye to our original home.
In the beginning, Windsong had just seven people on the team. Now we’ve got 13. Our old space was just about bursting at the seams, but it was home.
We’d grown accustomed to it. We always knew the kitchen and bathrooms would feel just a few degrees above freezing, because they were on the same air conditioning unit as the server room.
We made discoveries. One time Haley, after working here a year, rushed inside to excitedly announce that the bushes out front had been trimmed into the shapes of animals. We had to tell her they’d always been like that.
We may never know the true origins of the mysterious shrine behind the dumpsters, composed of an old-timey compass and empty cans of cat food.
There were anniversary parties with colorful guests. There were Germs (we won’t miss loading everything in the studio into a U-Haul every few months to make room for the event). There were dance battles with shirt-ripping finishers. There were origami decorations. There were happy hours with Dave’s craft cocktails and watching horrible movies.
It was home. But it’s time to move on. It’s time to move.
And we’re taking the mural with us.
