It’s that time of year again. Time for us to honor the employee of the year. And for 2019, that’s – Jeremiah Belt!

The average person doesn’t normally understand the level of work that goes into what we do. We plan for weeks, sometimes months in advance of filming. We have a cinematographer, directors, producers, a production manager, editors, and more…And then we have Jeremiah, the commander-in-chief of our army of color perfection.

Jeremiah’s full job title is Lead Motion Graphics Artist and Colorist, but sometimes he’ll just say, Colorist. The average person knows so little about his ancillary function of our process that he has actually been asked “Oh really? Which salon do you work at?” Little do they know…

Jeremiah has the biggest office in the building, with the most powerful computers we own at his fingertips. I’ve worked here for over a year, and I still don’t really have a grasp on what Jere does. I do know that because of his eye for details, the color of our final videos are consistent and rival other work on TV.

Jeremiah studied design, animation and CGI at several prestigious west coast universities. His love of games, particularly board games, is second to none. He has worked with our creative director Byron on and off for something like 14 years and has been a full-time employee at Windsong for five.

I reached out to Conlan Spangler, the 2018 employee of the year, to ask for a few words about Jeremiah. He doesn’t work at Windsong anymore, having moved across the entire country to pursue his dream of watching tv at home in a different state.

“Well, I don’t really work at Windsong anymore, but I think I remember Jeremiah. He’s the one with the flip-flops, right? He’s pretty good at doing stuff, so I’m not surprised he’s Employee of the Year. I will always remember the time he did something memorable and everyone was very impressed. Those were interesting times.”

When I asked current Windsong employees to describe Jeremiah in one word, the responses were wide-ranging; thoughtful, meticulous, ancillary, teacher, masterful, foodie, sandals, impulsive and dependable AF (I let it slide because abbreviations technically are not words). When I commented that the word impulsive didn’t really seem to fit the Jeremiah that I know, the response I received was “Hmmm? I feel that he has you all fooled.”

But whether you think Jeremiah is a little bit obsessive about his car (he parks in the furthest space in our parking lot so nobody will park next to him), or if you wonder if he even owns a pair of close-toed shoes (I mean, he must right?) we can agree, across the board, that he is one of the most genuine and nicest people you will ever meet. And to count him as a coworker is to count him as a friend. Congratulations, Jeremiah!
