Vince has been a vital cog at Windsong since 2017 — and maybe never more so than this year.
Every byte of video from our cameras makes its way through good ol’ Vince before it ever touches an editing bay. As the digital asset manager, Vince is the footage gatekeeper, making sure video looks, feels and sounds right after it comes in raw from the set and before our editors start shaping it into cinematic magic.
For Windsong to run, Vince has to keep managing footage. Without him churning it out, our work becomes inefficient and laborious.
When the pandemic hit in March, it threatened to stop us in our tracks. Our team of 13 suddenly had our offices snatched from us, filming shrank to two-person efforts and collaboration became challenging. Our office — a huge brick warehouse in downtown Fresno with plenty of office, set and storage space — was empty.
Except for one person.
Vince.
Every day, Vince was in his office prepping raw footage to become the visions our clients expected. His work kept us on schedule and on budget, and allowed us to continue taking on new clients and staff.
“Basically,” Founder and Executive Creative Director Byron Watkins said, half tongue in cheek, “if it weren’t for Vince we might not have made any money this year!”
Vince has been in video production for more than two decades — he started young, so we’re not dating him at all! (actually, maybe a tiny bit). So he fully understood what his work meant to the team in this unique and (hopefully) once-in-a-lifetime challenge. And he attacked his work for our greater good.
For Windsong, Vince kept the COVID-19 effects on small businesses at arm’s length as best he could.
To Vince: This past year would not have been as successful as it was without you, buddy, and that’s why you’re our 2020 Employee of the Year. Thank you for all you do.
