Joshua Krause put together his list of top movies for 2014.
Krause saw a lot of movies last year. Unfortunately Fresno doesn’t get all the limited releases, so he still has some flicks he needs to catch (e.g., Citizenfour, Inherent Vice, A Most Violent Year, Force Majeure) and those may potentially alter this list.
With that in mind, here are his picks in descending order, starting off with the one that moved him the most, considering performances, story, cinematography, screenplay, editing and, of course, fun-ness.
- Whiplash
- Birdman
- Boyhood
- Rich Hill
- Under the Skin
- Only Lovers Left Alive
- Nymphomaniac: Volume 1
- Obvious Child
- Grand Budapest Hotel
- Nightcrawler
Honorable mentions: Blue Ruin, Cheap Thrills, Snowpiercer, Maps to the Stars and Foxcatcher.
